| What We Do: Lavender and Wines So far we have lavender and wine at Heisson Farms. Or lavender starts and wine grapes that is. We plan to open our tasting room and winery in the summer/fall of 2009. Currently we have 40 Grosso lavender plants in the ground, and 300 "babies" in the greenhouse. We also have 13 other varieties of lavender under propagation for nursery stock. In the wine department, we planted 600 grapevines this spring of four varieties: gamay noir, temperillo, orange muscat, and gewertzaminer. In time, we may also process the heirloom apples and pears from the historic orchard into hard ciders. Cheers! |
